WIZ aims to add an international perspective to education. The project has participated as an Education Finalist in the GJC (Rome) in 2002 and 2004 and in the Stockholm Challenge 2004, 2006 (also Culture) and 2008. Acknowledgements

Linking The World: UK Facts look at the involvement of the UK with the rest of the world - Brunei, Costa Rica, Guyana, Myanmar (Burma), PNG, Suriname etc. Find your country's connections with other parts of the world.

Africa: Angola, Botswana, Cameroon, Kenya, Lesotho, Morocco, South Africa, Tunisia

Spotlight on Europe: Read about the member countries of the European Union.

The following became Member States in 2004: Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovak Republic and Slovenia.

Bulgaria and Romania joined January 2007. Candidate countries are Croatia, and Turkey. [The former Yugoslav Republic of] Macedonia is also a candidate. Other potential candidate countries are Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro and Serbia.

Change in Europe and Asia since 1991

Former Yugoslavia included the following: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia.

Former USSR Europe: Belarus, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Ukraine and Russia. Asia: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

It has been estimated that only sixty thousand years ago a small number of our ancestors took part in migration from Africa. The descendants of these people populated the world. The use of DNA testing reminds us of our common ancestry. African Origins links to relevant sections in WIZ.

The Linking Our World project, a case study in Global Communication, was a Finalist in Sweden's Stockholm Challenge Award for "contribution in the global movement of building a better Information Society for all" - 2004 Education and 2006 Culture.
